The global pandemic Coronavirus or also known as the COVID-19 has been affecting the entire world through community quarantines and lockdowns. These state emergencies have inflicted damage to certain industries.
One industry that is currently suffering not only on its sales but also on production of its units – the automotive industry.
European Automobile Manufacturer’s Association (or also known as ACEA) reported on Tuesday that over a million employees in Europe who are working on automotive factories have lost their jobs as companies shuts down its production.
This statistics is accumulated since orders to stay at home has been implemented across the region by the different countries to avoid the spread of the Coronavirus.
“Right now, the primary concern of ACEA and all its members is to manage the immediate crisis facing the auto industry, which has essentially come to an abrupt halt – something the sector has never experienced before,” said Eric-Mark Huitema, the director general of ACEA.
Huitema though assured that they will do everything in their power to prioritize the well-being of the said workers who were affected by this global pandemic.
“Our first priority is to protect the health and jobs of the almost 14 million Europeans who work directly or indirectly in our sector,” he concluded.
