Automotive company Ford has announced that they will be working with 3M and GE to create more respirators and ventilators to heed the call of shortage in medical equipment used by healthcare workers.
The initiative came on Tuesday as healthcare workers are scrambling to find more protective equipment supplies for them to address the ongoing global pandemic Coronavirus.
Powered Air-Purifying Respirator or also known as PAPR, is used by medical personnel to interact with coronavirus patients and avoid the contamination of such.
It is comprised of a clear mask, a tube which is connected to a filter that will refine the air intake. Ford would also want to improve the battery capacity of the upcoming new set of PAPR to last up to eight hours at maximum.
With another collaboration to GE, Ford aims to produce air pumps for the crucially ill persons who are suffering from the virus.
This initiative is not new in the automotive industry as General Motors previously announced that they will collaborating with Ventec Life System to produce more ventilators.
